HBO Max set social feeds on fire in 2022, and produced some of the hottest and most viral social moments of the year by giving fans access to talent and storytelling like never before.

From negroni sbagliatos to the Peacemaker dance to The White Lotus memes, HBO Max stoked fandom and excitement among followers – deepening their relationship with the shows they love, and the talent they follow.

And audiences wanted to be a part of it: They flocked to our social channels logging 122 million engagements, over 3.5 billion views, and 19 billion impressions throughout the year, and grew our feeds by over 6.5 million new followers (a 45% growth compared to 2021!).

 

EUPHORIA

Two years after Euphoria premiered, fans were longing to reconnect with the students of East Highland High School and watch the award-winning cast in their second season. To further engage social conversation, HBO Max filled feeds with the most iconic scenes, BTS footage, and talent interviews to help fans deepen their connection with the talent and the drama. The content drove 29 million video views and over 3 million engagements on TikTok alone.

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON

As one of the year’s most anticipated series, House of the Dragon created a firestorm of social activity with fans eager to return to Westeros, more than 200 years before the Game of Thrones series took place. We introduced fans to the new cast with a broad range of interviews, red carpet footage, and BTS moments—which collectively reached over 2.6 million engagements and 65.8 million video views.

THE WHITE LOTUS

Fans were beyond excited to check back into The White Lotus and be voyeurs of the guests’ experiences in Italy. HBO Max shared the best moments throughout the series in real time for followers to share and meme, while fans of the show used the second season’s theme song for their own social content – creating remixes, choreographed dances, and fan theories. Overall, social promotion for season two resulted in nearly 1.4 million engagements and 36 million video views.

PEACEMAKER

The launch of Peacemaker in January 2022 lit up social conversations, engaging new and existing DC fans with content highlighting the greatest exchanges between the cast. And in response to the audience’s love for the opening sequence dance, the HBO Max social team gave fans an insider view, with side-by-side footage of the cast learning the routine. In total, Peacemaker social content earned over 2.2 million engagements and 70.7 million impressions.

THE LAST OF US

Ahead of the premiere in January 2023, HBO Max released the first look at one of the most talked about new shows: The Last of Us. Fans were anxious to see how the famed video game would be adapted to a series format, and HBO Max used social feeds to give followers a first look. The trailer and teaser content drove over 1.5 million engagements and more than 16 million views across feeds, as followers shared their excitement for the preview footage.

THE BATMAN

After breaking box-office records, The Batman was exclusively streamed on HBO Max in May 2022. Ahead of the release, social feeds stoked the fandom with countdowns and clips to drive buzz and excitement.
